Sunday Storm!

So on Sunday, heavy thunderstorms hit my area. They weren't as bad as the Wednesday before (their were tornado warnings in effect and the siren went off as well and trust me doing school work in a closet sized bathroom with an angry cat is not fun). However I did decide to shoot videoes and pictures. Because it was dark, its not the greatest until lightning shows but you can hear it and just seeing my reaction is kinda funny. Except for occasional snow, I doubt I will be posting "vlogs" here and unlike my "collector" videoes these are from my main YT account where those videoes are locked, this is also where most of my blog exclusive content will come from. Also don't worry i won't be posting videoes all of the time, that is why I came back to blogger, so I didn't have to but in some cases I will and since this is a sister site to my yt collector's universe, it makes sense to occasionally post those here as well.

Images and Videoes below.

Anyway, this is the video I shot when I just went outside after closing some windows, taking care of a leak, and making sure nothing got ruined in my collection room AND i was supposed to be doing school work! Images below the videoes!

Here is part 2:
And now for Images!

Sidewalk Flooded! That water is deep enough that up to my ankle was fully submerged!
Raging waterfall. That "Dirt" is actually water and though it does not look it, water was going down the steps like a waterfall! Was kind of cool really!

It's that time of the week again, cool and collected's Pop culture League Challenge! The topic this week is: "What’s your earliest arcade or video game memory?

This is actually kind of hard for me because I barely remember specifics when in regards to video games. I would have to say "Space Invaders".

It was definitely my earliest memory game related. i remember how much i loved it and how annoying it was to try to hide from the aliens or shoot them up only to have my hiding place and in time myself wiped out.
I played that game for hours on end. remember this was a time before Nintendo and computers were only good for typing up stories or writing memos. I loved that game and miss it to this day.

I also remember playing Pac-Man, which until I read some of my other league members posts, i believed was the only arcade game I ever played on an arcade as a kid.
I still love this game and have it installed on my x-box and play it from time to time. In case your wondering, I remembered that I played arcade games at showbiz Pizza and six flags due to my fellow leaguers but still cannot recall any games but some airplane game I played at Pizza Hut that for some reason I keep thinking was Airwolf but doubt it as that was a television show during that era so I am probably mixing them up.

UPDATE: Nope I was right! It was indeed Air Wolf. In fact that is the exact machine that I remember playing in the front of Pizza Hut!

However I also remember getting our first Nintendo at the toy store. I believe that was at Toys R us but it might have been Playworld. That is when my all time favorite game came into my life. Any idea what it was?
I played both of the games represented here like crazy (both were the same cartridge) and still love them to this day!

More articles coming soon and the first look at my collection (Frog display) is set to be released on Thursday!

Also if you liked this post, why not check out what some of my fellow league members said on their blogs?

I finally found Bandai's "Hatchin' Heroes" line recently. I was looking very forward to it because one of my favorite things I had as a kid was my Meteorb. Unfortunately I do not have one now and do not like taking pics from other sites, so I can't show any but i had Astro Lion. i hope to get him again someday, anyway, I wanted these new figures because they reminded me of the Meteorbs.

So the premise of these are that they are eggs that then hatch. The transformations are similar but unlike the Meteorbs (which the original version of those were eggs as well but when Mattel purchased the molds they made them meteors) they look more like what they are supposed to be.
So far I have gotten only two, which is surprising since I like the Finding Dory ones and want more of the dinosaur ones. That and the fact that they are only 5 bucks at Wal-Mart.
The white one is Baymax from Big Hero Six. What's funny is not only have I not seen it but I just recently discovered its loosely based on a Marvel comic of the same name. Even funnier still? I think I read the first issue back when it came out because it looks familiar (the comic not the movie as the designs of the characters are vastly different).
As you can see Baymax is hollow and his arms, legs and head just slide out.
Because of this he and the Pteranodon I have from the dinosaur line have minimal articulation.
Others in this line look goofy with the "egg" look but I think it suits Baymax pretty well.
I put him on my Disney shelf but was tempted to throw him on my Marvel one instead. lol.
The Pteranodon actually looks great as well.

His legs move up and down, as does his head.
His wings also open and close all of this because of his "egg" feature but it works well.
His sculpt is pretty impressive to me, it even looks like the wings should with creases in them. Very similar to a bat.
Just for fun here he is next to a pterodactyl from the Dino-Riders line. So there is a look at "Disney's Hatchin' Heroes" line from Bandai. i highly recommend these, especially if you are a Meteorb fan like myself! I hope to get more in the future.

My Halloween celebration is coming soon. Expect lots of Halloween articles and memories. I plan to do a few articles for it throughout September and then all October long! I love Halloween and if you saw my house you'd believe me as I already have decorated for it lol.

Later this week expect even more memories of toys and books and reviews. Plus pictures from Disney and Universal in Florida from the 90's! Much more to come so stay tuned everyone!

Displays revealed coming very soon

On my Youtube channel, I have gotten requests of  revealing my collection. On Halloween, I will be posting a walk-thru of my collection there and here. However, I will be doing photoshoot walk-thrus  before that of two displays for sure. My frog display which is teased above, and my Ghostbusters display (also teased). I will also probably show off other parts through out the house as the video will be most likely only my collection room. Expect my frog display article in September and my Ghostbusters display will be shown in early October as part of my Halloween celebration!

Once upon a time their was a league, then I wanted to join but sadly it had ended. the I just noticed that its back under a new name.
So I decided to join in on this week's topic even though it is really late.

"If __ was an Olympic sport, I'd have a gold medal around my neck." is the topic this week. this is actually very hard for me. I went to pop culture and was like well if toy collecting was and then was like nope. Going to school? nah. Then I really thought about it. What else and I am really good at? Halloween decorating. Sure, but what about something else. Something different.\

I had to  go back to my childhood but I did come up with one. Yes i'm not as good at it as I am much older. even at 38, my hearing and sight aren't as good but you know what? I'm still pretty good at this thing. Even to this day I love nature. I like to go out at night looking for animals, especially frogs. As a kid I was easily able to find them by their croaks. Ok I admit anyone can, but can you pinpoint their exact location from the other side of the lake or pond? I could at one time. Its harder now but I still can just not as well. so I guess if locating a male frog by his croak from long distances was an Olympic sport, I'd have a gold medal around my neck.

Also i should mention, though this is not a surprise to anyone who visits my YouTube channel, but like many of my fellow League members, i have a problem with procrastinating and it is a pain especially since I am a college student and this semester i am a full-time online student. LOL. Guess I will have to do my best to get the gold medal in non procrastination huh? :)

Also why don't you check out what other members of the league had to say about this topic?

Little Mermaid

It took me awhile to come up with what I wanted to talk about in my first post and ironically I decided on a book. I say it is ironic because I am not exactly a reader. I enjoy television much better but there are exceptions which I will go into on a later date, but this item is not exactly a book. I know i am rambling and am being confusing ad I apologize but I was so excited to find this and still am, that I wanted to drag it out a bit.

I grew up with Colorforms and have bee looking for them for awhile now. I know that they are back and I have been tempted to buy the new ones but every time I just shrug. I think it is because even though I have seen these properties in movies and on TV, the current Colorform versions just are meh to me. so when I was at Goodwill sometime back and discovered this: I flipped!
First of all I never even knew that these existed. I grew up with the boxed playset versions. The ones where you had the colorform background (sometimes 2) and the cling-ons. So i was confused. The only reason it eve registered was because it is Ariel. I am a huge fan of "The Little Mermaid", as you will see as time goes on, and anytime I see something with her I look closer to decide if I want it (due to financial issues or I would buy it all). My first thought after the initial shock was I bet the "stickers are all gone." Nope, Although the "sticker" sheet is long gone, every last one of them is in the book! This is amazing because in my research for colorforms and other things with pieces, finding it complete is not only difficult but nearly impossible at a cheap place like the Goodwill.
The story was typical for a children's story in the day. Ariel searches for Flounder and runs into everyone. It was cute and because this is colorforms, it is not only interactive (due to the pieces) but short. It is only 3 playsets long (about 6 pages not including the covers.

They stick perfectly and except for some paint wear on some of them, they look great. The likenesses like always are also great
. The only real gripe is this discoloration on some of them. My only theory is either it is because they are old or because some of them might have gotten wet.
Nonetheless, I am still excited about this find! I might not have had this particular set as a child, but I could not have asked for a better one to restart my collection with!
If your lucky enough to find this, I highly recommend it. I have started looking much more closely at Goodwill now. I discover online that there were a lot of these made. Multiple Disney movie licenses, Berenstein Bears, and even Barney the Dinosaur!

Hopefully one day I can find a set I had as a kid like the original Turtles cartoon set or He-Man. Or one that I didn't have like Dino-Riders or G.I.Joe! They had so many licenses back then so you never know.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and more are coming. After all the universe is vast and so is my imagination!
